Bonus Notes

SiteGround is a popular choice among bloggers.

Pricing

SiteGround has three tiers of plans starting at $3.95 / month which is a great entry point. Similar to Bluehost they do not offer month to month and only offer this price at a commitment of a year, two years or three years. They do offer a one month trial where it is the $3.95 + $14.95 setup fee.

After the initial period, whether a year, two years or three years, the plans do go up to $11.95 for the lowest tier. It is a high jump that has caused frustration for many.

Bonus Materials

[00:00:08.480]
Next up is SiteGround. Siteground has
become super, super popular in the last,

[00:00:14.000]
I would say, year,
they've been popular for a long time,

[00:00:16.560]
but they've become a lot more popular in
the past year and they're super reliable.

[00:00:22.320]
They do have managed WordPress hosting,

[00:00:24.360]
so they do a lot to help your WordPress
site stay updated and so forth.

[00:00:29.280]
And they focus a lot on WordPress.

[00:00:31.560]
They don't do exclusively WordPress,
but they do focus a lot on WordPress.

[00:00:36.560]
So their introductory price
is $3.95 a month

[00:00:40.640]
again, that's going
to be if you get a year.

[00:00:43.640]
So that's actually just
a dollar more than the host.

[00:00:47.160]
Their regular pricing though jumps
up to $11.95 a month.

[00:00:51.640]
So that's something to think about.

[00:00:53.520]
You do get one website with this,

[00:00:55.840]
10 gigs of webspace and lots of visitors
monthly. GrowBig and GoGeek jump up

[00:01:01.640]
and price, but they offer
some great benefits.

[00:01:04.360]
One thing that I've noticed with clients
that have SiteGround is they get

[00:01:07.800]
to the point where they have too many
processes running and this can happen if

[00:01:12.320]
you have a lot of scripts
running and so forth.

[00:01:14.680]
So jumping up to those higher
plans have helped that.

[00:01:18.240]
And one really cool thing about the Go

[00:01:20.040]
Geek, I believe, is just
the one click maybe.

[00:01:25.320]
Yeah.
So these two options have a staging site

[00:01:29.560]
and I'll talk about staging
sites more in the future.

[00:01:32.040]
But a staging site allows you to make

[00:01:35.640]
a carbon copy of your current
site and then go play with it.

[00:01:40.040]
So if you want to switch themes,
if you want to test out plug in,

[00:01:43.880]
if you want to test out a new
look for your front page.

[00:01:47.040]
Staging site is a great way
to kind of help do this.

[00:01:51.280]
And a lot of these hosts will
help you make a staging site.

[00:01:56.040]
And then if you like those changes
that you've made, they'll make it really

[00:02:00.080]
easy, like a one click to move those
changes back to your real site.

[00:02:05.800]
So this is a great way
to kind of test things out.

[00:02:08.880]
If you want to kind of build on new

[00:02:11.080]
features like e-commerce or a core site or
a membership site, you could kind of test

[00:02:17.280]
it out and make sure
that everything is set up right.

[00:02:21.440]
And then you can move it
over to your live site.

[00:02:23.880]
So great,
great way to do that.

[00:02:27.240]
Alright.

[00:02:27.680]
Let's go and take a look at how we
would get started with this one.

[00:02:31.520]
So we're going to register
a new domain or have a domain.

[00:02:36.960]
And the domain registration is $50.95 a year.

[00:02:40.680]
Sorry, they don't give you a free
domain like we host for the first year.

[00:02:44.560]
Something to think about if you're trying

[00:02:46.160]
to save money, blue hosts
may be the best way to go.

[00:02:49.320]
Let's see.
Let's do something like that.

[00:02:52.200]
Alright,
so the domain was available and we have

[00:02:56.160]
our billing information
and period is 12 months.

[00:03:01.320]
So 12 months is a period.

[00:03:04.440]
$3.95 is the charge.

[00:03:06.040]
So they're going to bill you for $47.40,

[00:03:09.160]
under $50,
which is a great price.

[00:03:12.160]
And then your domain registration
is $50.95.

[00:03:16.160]
So that bumps it up a little bit,

[00:03:17.640]
but still $63
for a whole year of hosting,

[00:03:22.680]
and your domain

[00:03:25.200]
is really a great domain.

[00:03:27.120]
Privacy is something that you
want to think about.

[00:03:29.400]
It keeps your personal information private
when someone looks up your domain.

[00:03:36.920]
So a domain is public information
and your address and your name and your

[00:03:43.680]
contact information is registered with the
domain if you want to keep that private.

[00:03:49.440]
And it usually puts just the information

[00:03:51.440]
of the host or just some
private somewhere to contact,

[00:03:55.880]
but then they will contact you, which
helps a lot with the spam and so forth.

[00:04:00.960]
Then you can add the domain privacy here.
All right.

[00:04:04.560]
So take a look.

[00:04:06.000]
When you're looking at this,
what the regular prices are.

[00:04:09.120]
So the regular price for domain privacy is
twenty four dollars a year and the regular

[00:04:15.440]
price for the basic hosting plan
is $11.95 per month.

[00:04:20.520]
And then the SG scanner again,
hopefully with the scores you'll have some

[00:04:27.720]
tools to keep your site safe
and protected from being hacked.

[00:04:32.440]
But if you want the additional security
of SiteGround taking care of that and have

[00:04:38.200]
the support from SiteGround to
work with that,

[00:04:42.000]
then you can add that almost $20
a year for the SG site scanner.

[00:04:48.240]
Alright,

[00:04:48.840]
so you would just click on pay
now and you're off to go.
