[00:00:07.520]
Alright, so now that we have kind

[00:00:09.320]
of an idea of what we're going to do
for our domain, the pieces of the domain,

[00:00:15.720]
the anatomy, we're going
to go look for our domain.

[00:00:19.480]
So we're going to search
for different things,

[00:00:21.520]
for example, dot com
and my favorite site to search

[00:00:25.640]
for my perfect name is Domainr
so domain, and then r dot com.

[00:00:34.480]
 I like domain or because

[00:00:36.520]
it is kind of agnostic, it's not
going to try and sell you the domain.

[00:00:40.720]
It's just going to tell you where you can

[00:00:43.320]
register different domains and what
domains are currently available.

[00:00:47.680]
So I had the idea of starting a new site

[00:00:51.000]
with the idea that I'm a mom of two boys,
so the mom of two boys

[00:00:57.640]
and we can see. So mom, two boys
is taken, dot net is available to work.

[00:01:05.120]
Considering that the dot com has taken,
you would at this point probably go

[00:01:09.680]
and look for the social media and see
if the social media has taken us well.

[00:01:14.920]
And if it is, it might be time
to search for a different name.

[00:01:18.480]
If it isn't, then it might be
an option that you would consider.

[00:01:23.360]
We could do something specific, like
two Hoover boys dot com raising two boys.

[00:01:32.480]
That works, raising two boys,
so there's a lot of ideas here and you can

[00:01:37.880]
see the kind of unique extensions,
dot io dot co, dot app, and it just keeps going.

[00:01:44.240]
And I we believe if we go into one

[00:01:46.880]
of these so let's say we want a dot co, you
can then see where you can register this.

[00:01:53.920]
I go to Techie Mamma,

[00:01:54.960]
it comes up with different things as well.

[00:01:57.240]
So they're getting creative here
and doing Techie Ma and more.

[00:02:01.960]
And that's a unique extension

[00:02:03.760]
I've actually never heard
of. Same thing with this,

[00:02:06.360]
so you can see this one is specific
ones that will register it.

[00:02:11.600]
So if you're really set on a specific
domain, you would look at where you can

[00:02:17.240]
register it and then just go
ahead and register it there.

[00:02:21.240]
Live.

[00:02:25.520]
So Techie Mamma dot show
and see where you can register that, dot

[00:02:32.800]
Dot blog is only available
to register through WordPress.

[00:02:37.360]
Something to think about.

[00:02:38.640]
It's the WordPress dot com,
but you can still just register it

[00:02:43.000]
and then set it up with your
self hosting site.

[00:02:46.840]
Alright,

[00:02:47.440]
so let's say we have a domain that we
want to register, raising two boys.

[00:02:55.600]
I can see that it like will give
you options as you type things out.

[00:03:02.320]
Raising boys.

[00:03:05.720]
So we want raising two boys so we can look
where to register that,

[00:03:10.960]
let's say we want it for some reason,
which is another common extension.

[00:03:15.800]
It's one of the more popular ones,
especially among startups.

[00:03:19.760]
So something to think about.

[00:03:21.320]
So here we get kind
of a couple different options.

[00:03:24.280]
I want my name as one of my favorite

[00:03:26.120]
places to register Google domains and then
a couple of different options as well.

[00:03:31.440]
So when registering a domain,
there's two ways to do it.

[00:03:36.000]
You can either go to your hosting that you
choose, and we'll talk more about hosting

[00:03:41.040]
the next section
and register through them.

[00:03:45.360]
For example, Blue Hosts gives you
a free domain name for the first year.

[00:03:51.200]
Lyrical Host lets you register
the domain through them.

[00:03:55.960]
It's not free, but I believe it's
about twelve dollars for most of them.

[00:04:02.000]
You can also just go straight
to the domain registrar.

[00:04:06.120]
So Google Domains, NameCheap and IWantMyName

[00:04:10.760]
are three of my favorites.

[00:04:12.120]
I actually registered just about
everything through Google domains because

[00:04:16.560]
they have a really nice management system
and it just works well.

[00:04:21.600]
NameCheap and IWantMyName have

[00:04:24.920]
a broader listing of all
of the extensions name.

[00:04:28.640]
She particularly has really awesome prices

[00:04:31.880]
starting at under two dollars,
which is really awesome.

[00:04:35.600]
So let's go here.

[00:04:36.840]
Let's do our raising two boys

[00:04:40.720]
and search.

[00:04:42.040]
And this will also give you kind
of a search of all of the domain

[00:04:45.960]
extensions are available
and then the prices.

[00:04:48.920]
So for the dot com,

[00:04:50.720]
it's $8.88 a year and then
we get kind of some of the other options.

[00:04:55.560]
One thing to think about is as cool as it
will be to have an extension like I don't

[00:05:01.680]
know and I don't see any other dot
wedding, the cost does go up per year.

[00:05:06.840]
You get something that's very unique
and it helps with your brand in terms

[00:05:11.600]
of it's connected with your industry,
but it can also cost a little bit more.

[00:05:16.440]
So there's always kind of a
balance to reach there.

[00:05:20.960]
So raising two boys dot club,
maybe I want to make it a club.

[00:05:26.280]
There's life raising two boys world.

[00:05:29.880]
There's a lot of different options here.

[00:05:32.440]
So once you choose what you wanted,

[00:05:35.200]
you can just click on Add to Cart
and then just check out as you would

[00:05:40.040]
normally they do have
some web hosting and other options.

[00:05:45.720]
I've never used the name CheapHosting,

[00:05:47.960]
but it's something to try if you
want to just keep it all together.

[00:05:53.760]
So for I want my name, similar idea,

[00:05:57.960]
raising two boys and then we can look
and you'll see all the prices.

[00:06:05.720]
So here the dot com is $14,
whereas here the dot com was $8,

[00:06:11.680]
so something to keep in mind.

[00:06:13.600]
One thing I like about Google domains is

[00:06:15.760]
that they kind of stay
consistent with the extensions.

[00:06:19.440]
There's not a huge drastic change,

[00:06:22.000]
but they also don't offer every
single extension that's out there.

[00:06:26.800]
So for I WantMyName Boys.io
 is $59,

[00:06:31.120]
that gets kind of pricey.

[00:06:32.880]
So you can look at those options similar

[00:06:35.880]
to NameCheap would just
kind of go in and add it.

[00:06:40.920]
Let's see, let's do code,

[00:06:45.280]
so then it's in your cart
and you could go check out.

[00:06:51.560]
I don't believe IWantMyName offers

[00:06:54.000]
hosting, so you would have to go
in and do hosting separately.

[00:06:59.240]
As BlueHost,

[00:07:00.160]
we will go through the options in detail,
but if you click on get started.

[00:07:07.640]
And that we'll just get to the screen
where you can do a domain,

[00:07:12.400]
you can see that they do have some
options, but they don't have all of them.

[00:07:17.160]
So let's say we wanted dot space.

[00:07:27.920]
Space.

[00:07:30.600]
And then you get to the page where you

[00:07:32.560]
start paying for the hosting,
which will go through later.

[00:07:37.840]
Alright.

[00:07:39.040]
Well, I think that wraps
it up for this video.

[00:07:42.000]
So, again, this is your domain.

[00:07:45.480]
This is your name.

[00:07:47.160]
You want a unique name for the example

[00:07:50.280]
part, and then you can go
with a unique extension.

[00:07:54.080]
Some of these popular
extensions are up and coming.

[00:07:57.560]
Our newer you do not have to do a dot com.

[00:08:00.840]
I believe that even doing something that's

[00:08:03.400]
a little bit more unique
will help your brand.

[00:08:05.960]
And Google verifies that it will not hurt SEO.

[00:08:11.280]
You might want to stay away from some

[00:08:13.280]
of the things that have had
an influx of a lot of shady sites.

[00:08:17.360]
But other than that, you should be good.
